Turn to Food to Improve Your Mood

A lot of us think that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we have to avoid them. Often, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this is true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very nutritious and good for us to consume. Some foods honestly do raise your mood when you consume them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, you might be surprised to find out, are fantastic at fighting depression. Just see to it that you do not throw away the yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you elevate your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that affect your mood. Eat an egg and feel better!

Put together several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be elevated by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not only that but nuts, particularly, are a terrific protein food source.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you wish to fight depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. These are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.

It’s not difficult to drive away your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are terrific at helping you be happier. These grains fill you up better and that can help improve your moods too. Feeling starved can be terrible! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.

Green tea is actually great for your mood. You were just waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This helps better your mental focus while calming the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you be a lot healthier. Now you know green tea can help raise your mood too!

See, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try several of these instead!
