Information on How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

Many of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or another junk food, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be super nutritious and good for you. Some foods honestly do boost your mood when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try a few of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are great for helping you battle depression. Just make sure that you don’t toss out the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, the yolk especially, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can actually help you improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–function better. Try consuming a few eggs to feel better!

Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all great for raising your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that directs the brain how to feel at any given time. The more of it you have, the better you are going to feel. Not just that, nuts, specifically, are a terrific source of protein.

If you would like to battle depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3s. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.

It’s not difficult to fight your bad mood when you are eating grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually great for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full also which can really help to better your mood. Feeling starved can be awful! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are easy for your stomach to digest. You digest them faster than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.

Green tea is excellent for moods. You knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid called L-theanine. Studies show that this particular amino acid can actually stimulate brain waves. This helps raise your mental acuity while calming the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you become better. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood too!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try a few of these suggestions instead.
