Instructions to make Lightly-Flavored Pasta with Broccoli and Bacon:
  1. Preparation: Separate the broccoli into florets. Cut the mushrooms into bite-size pieces. Cut the bacon into 1 cm wide strips.
  2. Boil plenty of water in a large pot, and add a generous amount of salt (not included in the recipe). Parboil the broccoli until a bit firm. Do not cook too long.
  3. Remove the broccoli, and cook the pasta. Cook 1 minute less than package instructions. That's the key.
  4. Heat the garlic oil in a frying pan, and stir-fry the bacon. When lightly cooked, add the mushrooms, and stir-fry briefly.
  5. Season with the salt, pepper, and wine. Scoop out 2 ladlefuls of pasta cooking water, and pour into the pan.
  6. Add the precooked broccoli, and toss briefly.
  7. Add the freshly cooked pasta, and mix well. Please taste at this point; if it's not flavourful, adjust with salt and pepper.
  8. Please do not stir-fry too long after adding the pasta. Just mix with the ingredients and the sauce, then enjoy it♪ (This will prevent the pasta from drying out.)
  9. This time, it was the perfect amount for 2 adults and 2 children. If it's only for adults, the yield would be 3 servings.
  10. When you do not have garlic oil, you can substitute with olive oil (or vegetable oil), and 1 clove of sliced garlic stir-fried until fragrant.
  11. Broccoli will absorb the flavour better than pasta. It might be better to add pasta first, then add broccoli last.

Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more serotonin you have, the better you will feel. Nuts, along with bettering your mood, can be a super source of protein.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you want to battle depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can really help you battle your depression.

It’s easy to drive away your bad mood when you eat grains. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all great for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They help you feel full as well which can actually help to better your mood. It’s not difficult to feel low when you feel famished! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is excellent for moods. You were just anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have found that this specific amino acid can basically stimulate brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while also relaxing the rest of your body. You likely already knew it is not hard to get healthy when you drink green tea. Now you are aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods also!
