Use Food to Improve Your Mood

Many of us believe that comfort foods are not good for us and that we must keep away from them. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods could be super healthy and good for you. Several foods really do boost your mood when you eat them. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are fantastic for helping you combat depression. Just make sure that you do not toss the egg yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, particularly the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to elevate your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Eat a couple of eggs to cheer up!

Put together a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all good for elevating your mood. This is because these nuts are high in magnesium, which helps to increase serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more of it in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a fantastic source of protein.

If you want to overcome depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all chock-full of omega-3s and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.

Grains can be excellent for overcoming a bad mood. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are terrific at helping you have a happier mood. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, which is a mood improver. Feeling famished can actually make you feel awful! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest and process. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your sugar levels which in turn kicks up your mood to a happier place.

Green tea is really excellent for your mood. You were simply waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while at the same relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you know it can help you be happier as well!

See, you don’t need to stuff your face with junk food when you wish to feel better! Try some of these instead!
