Turn to Food to Elevate Your Mood

A lot of us have been taught to think that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this holds true. At times, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for us to eat. Several foods honestly do boost your mood when you eat them. If you seem to be a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, you may be astonished to discover, are terrific at fighting depression. Just see to it that you don’t get rid of the egg yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are rich in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because the B vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try consuming a few eggs to feel better!

Put together several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to elevate your mood. This is possible because these foods have a bunch of magnesium which boosts your production of serotonin. Serotonin is called the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a great source of protein.

If you want to fight depression, try eating some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3 fats and DHA. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you overcome depression.

Some grains are truly great for fighting off bad moods. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all excellent for helping you feel better. They help you feel full as well which can actually help to improve your mood. Feeling starved can be a real downer! These grains can improve your mood because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is excellent for moods. You were just anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has been found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have shown that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You knew that green tea helps you become better. Now you are aware that it helps you to lift your moods too!

You can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are terrible for you just so to feel better! Try several of these instead!
