Try Using Food to Improve Your Mood

For the most part, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and must be avoided. Often, if the comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be very nourishing and good for you. A number of foods really do raise your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you fight depression. Just make sure that you do not toss the egg yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most important part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can be terrific for boosting your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try consuming a few eggs to feel better!

Put together a trail mixout of a variety of seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that directs your brain how you feel all the time. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Nuts, along with raising your mood, can be a superb source of protein.

If you wish to fight depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

Some grains are actually excellent for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really wonderful for helping boost your happiness levels. These foods can help you feel full for longer as well, which can help your mood too. It’s not difficult to feel depressed when you feel famished! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is actually great for your mood. You just knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is rich in a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You likely already knew how easy it is to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you are aware that it helps you to raise your moods too!

You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Try a couple of of these suggestions instead.
