In general, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and have to be avoided. Sometimes, if the comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be very nourishing and good for you. A number of foods honestly do boost your mood when you eat them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try a few of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be really great at dealing with depression. Just see to it that you do not throw out the yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the yolks in particular, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for lifting up your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that affect your mood. Eat an egg and cheer up!
Put together a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be raised by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.
Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel healthier. Now you are aware that it helps you to elevate your moods as well!
Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try a couple of of these tips instead.
