Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better
Most of us believe that comfort foods are not good for us and that we must avoid them. However, if your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be very nutritious and good for you. There are several foods that actually can boost your moods when you eat them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try a few of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are wonderful for helping you fight depression. Just see to it that you don’t toss out the yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to elevate your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that control your mood. Eat an egg and be happy!
Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all wonderful for improving your mood. This is possible since these foods are rich in magnesium which promotes your production of serotonin. Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you will feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a terrific protein food source.
Cold water fish are great if you want to feel happier. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all rich in omega-3s and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can really help you overcome depression.
Grains can be wonderful for fighting a bad mood. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all excellent for helping you feel better. They help you feel full too which can truly help to make your mood better. Feeling starved can actually bring you down! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s easy for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is wonderful for moods. You knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is high in a specific amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid essentially induces brain waves. This helps raise your mental sharpness while having a relaxing effect on the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel healthier. And now you know it can help you be happier too!
As you can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are not good for you so you can feel better! Try a few of these instead!
